  • El Paso is the sixth biggest city in Texas and it is the seat of the county, located on the northern bank of the Rio Grande mirroring the Mexican City of Ciudad Juarez

  • In the 1590s, this area was under the Spanish colonists and it was not till 1827 that the first permanent
    settlement at El Paso was established by Juan Maria Ponce De Leon

  • El Paso was incorporated as a city in the 1870s and it is the 23rd largest in the US, and experienced close to 360 days of sun in a year.

  • Temperature averages around 95 degree F in summers and 42 to 84 degree F in spring. In winters, the weather is mild though there have been cases of snowfall for example the winter of 2011.

  • According to the 2010 census, 649,121 people reside in El Paso of which 48% are females and 52% are males.

  • The different ethnicities residing in El Paso include American India, Alaska Native, Asian, Hispanic/Latino and the median age is around 31.5 years.

  • El Paso was incorporated as a city in the 1870s and the railroad came here in the 1880s, even as public transport system developed and the city flourished into an urban modern center

  • El Paso has the largest pecan orchard across the globe called Stahman Farms. Its state flower is the bluebonnet which grows in NE El Paso

  • El Paso star is 459 feet in its length and 278 in width with around 459 light bulbs and can be seen from the vantage point of the mountains .

  • The oldest missions in the US are located in El Paso city namely San Elizario and Soccorro Mission.

  • During the Mexican war, the roof of Camino Real was used as a means of viewing the battlefield and military outposts such as the Fort Bliss were established in 1848.
