 Day 1: First Day Tour of the Wonderful City of El Paso

Head to the El Paso Convention Bureau at 8:00 am

El Paso’s Visitors and Convention Bureau is where the action starts on Day1. Located at the Civic Center Plaza, this bureau has some amazing walking tours including self guided ones. The center opens at 8:00 in the morning and closes at 5 in the evening, Monday to Saturdays.

Magoffin home is where you head to next at 9:00 am 

Build up an appetite and get your energy levels up with a tour at Magoffin Home.  This El Paso landmark was constructed in the 1870s by politician and businessman J. Magoffin. This is a home which reflects the Southwest Texan architecture prevalent during the latter part of the 19th century. For adults the admission fee is under $4 while admission is free for children.  The home remains open from 9 in the morning to 5 in the evening, Tuesday to Sunday.

Enjoy breakfast at L& J Cafe at 10:00 am

This El Paso Cafe is at a location near the Concordia cemetery. This outlet has been open since the late 1920s. Get the best drinks and food here. Mains here cost anywhere between USD 7 and 12 while opening hours are from 10 in the morning to 9 in the evening.

11:00 am is when you shop at Placita Santa Fe and Marketplace

Placita Santa Fe and Marketplace in El Paso is dedicated to local artisans and crafts persons who sell handicraft and jewelry items. Visit the Museum at 12:00 pm

US Army Air Defense Artillery Museum is the only one of its kind in the United States. This museum has been operational since 1917. It even has a weapons park outdoors for those who are artillery enthusiasts. Admission to this museum is free and it is open from 9 in the morning to 4:30 in the evening.

Have a hearty lunch at Amigos at 1:00 pm 

This sunny spot in Montana Avenue is the best place to enjoy a meal. You can pick and choose from a wide and varied menu not to mention the perfect ambiance. The menu for the mains is priced between USD 8 and 11. Opening hours are from 6:30 in the morning to 3 in the noon on Mondays, till 8 pm on Tuesdays to Fridays and 7 am to 8 pm on weekends.

Head out to the Historic Fort Stockton District at 2:00 pm

Historic Fort Stockton is where you get to see original as well as reconstructed monuments and buildings that are of historical relevance. 4:00 pm and its time for tea at Kinley's House Coffee & Tea

This bustling and lively little cafe near the UTEP campus is known for its unbeatable lattes and macchiatos in plenty. You can even sample some Japanese noodles if the mood strikes you. 6:00 pm is time for some fun at Justin Boots

This boot and shoe store is a wonderful haven for those who love footwear. Open from 9 in the morning to 8 in the evening, all 5 days of the week and till 6 pm on Saturdays, this local outlet center along 1-10 remains open from noon to 5 pm on Sundays.

10:00 am is when you get a Taco or Two

Enjoy the El Paso Museum of Art which has southwestern collections that are most impressive. Annie Riggs Memorial Museum is a former boarding house and hotel named after its proprietress. This is an example of classic Texan architecture and it has many interesting treasures. Historic photos and memorabilia line the walls. This is one of the most well known cultural hotspots in Texas. For adults, the admission fee is USD 3 while it is $2 for children aged 6 t0 12. Fort Bliss is the largest defense training center in the West. Located in the northeastern part of EL Paso, this museum  is well known for its historical documents, archives and treasures.  Fort Bliss remains open from 9 in the morning to 4:30 in the evening.
